prism skimmer question
I am having a lot of trouble adjusting my prism skimmer. I def. do feel I am getting my $'s worth out of it. Here's the deal. I adjust it one way and it pulls out really thick greenish skimate, yet it NEVER has to be dumped b/c the substance is so thick the cup never fills up. If I just barely open it up a little more (and I do mean BARELY) then the skimate get so thin it fills up the cup and runs back into the tank in like less than an hour! I work so obviously I cannot have it doing that. It will look ok at first and then all the sudden fill up really fast and overflow. I have a little trouble w/ nitrates and I def. feel the skimmer should be working more efficiently! Does anyone else have this problem or any suggestions?

adjust it very slowly!!!!!! If you read some of the reports on it here in RC most people don't care for it. But on the otherhand it works great for my system and it fits perfectly on the 10 gal fuge that I just set up. That valve is a tough one. Most people want a plug and play deal. I think that there is some sort of adjusting with whatever your going to be using anyways so why is this so bad. I think that it just takes a little patience and time. I also took a marker and marked where it put it last and that seems to work very well with minor adjustments
Good luck Aaron |
