I use tap water ran through a carbon filter, I need phosphates for xenias. In regards to De*Nitrate, it's how I'm able to feed the 3 times a day, and feed a cube of cyclops or Phyto daily and still test 0 Nitrates..
Algae free with heavy feeding. Also incase you didn't know..after DeNitrate gets loaded w/ Nitrates it becomes a media to grow the bacteria that consumes Nitrates, so it is like crushed coral, but better
