Clam on a tube?

This clam did not stay on a rock or sand bed so I put it on a tube just like I saw at LFS. Anyone pros and cons to have a clam on a tube?

Other then it looks ugly?

I think they like to attach, so I'm not sure if this may stress it out
Maybe cut it shorter so that it just rests on the sand?

I had the same problem with a clam that is about the same size. I made an attractive cradle out of smaller, but heavy peices of live rock. It looks nice because he's framed in and hasn't fallen over since.

You can do the rock or you could cut the PVC and stick it down in the sand and only have 1/2" exposed?
