Which HOB skimmer? CPR or Coralife super skimmer?
I currently have a CPR HOB skimmer, but have heard great things about the Coralife Super skimmer. Any ideas or thought about which one would be the best for my 37g??
Thanks in advance!

the Super Skimmer is a great skimmer, but there will be a lot of "stuff" in your 37 gal for a hang on tank setup. Do you have a sump you could use?

never owned the Remora, but have only heard good things, and it seems smaller for HOB than Coralife

I have the remora don't buy it.The super skimmer is better.I have a pc wich is almost the same.I just got the deltec mce 600.The skimmer works great out of the box.I have to say its a good skimmer but its expensive. It won't let you down you will get a good skim out of it.My remora never performed that great. My pacific coast out performed my remora hands down.I still have it in my sump.I bought the Deltec because I heard good things and I am impressed with it.It produces a nice head of foam. Its a good skimmer so far its the best I have owned and its simple to use.

I think the coralife would be the better choice. You can get the 65gal. model for $89, or about twice that if you want to buy the Remora. A lot of people think Remora is the top of the line for smaller skimmers. I have a Coralife 65 on my 37gal. It will look better not to have it HOB. There is a powerhead, and an bubble reducing box that has to sit inside the tank or refugium. I ran it HOB on mine for a while, but it didnt work best until I made a sump. Skimmers run better when the water level remains constant, so a sump will help with that, plus hide the equipment. I made a 10gal. refugium/sump for my 37gal. and its great for my purposes.

The CSS is much better than the Remora. I replaced my Remora with the CSS65 about 2 months ago and it performs much better. I was never that impressed with my Remora, though. I have a CPR Bakpak on my 10G and it is a great skimmer, but I wouldn't use it on anything larger than a 20G.

My Remora started out producing lots of foam and dark green waste water, but stopped after a couple weeks. I now seems to just make noise, but very little waste water is produced. I've cleaned it out with the supplied brush on a wire, but that didn't seem to do anything.

I'd get a CSS65 and I'd do the bubble difuser mod to decrease junk in tank.
Mod is real easy. Go to light/filtr forum; "pictures of coralife skimmers" 5 star thread MASTERSWIMMER mods

seems like the super skimmer is getting pretty good reviews... My 37g has a blue back, so I won't see the skimmer part. As for "things" in my tank, I don't really mind. What's the difference between the regular and the bubble difuser mod??

Difuser mod is basically PVC w/holes and a black sponge that slips over it.
Smaller and less conspicuos. I plan to do it...someday ![]() They work great out of the box, but a couple mods make them perfect. The 65 doesn't have a drain plug. Be careful on break in period for overflow Once they break in, they work great, nasty skim, super quiet

I have the 125 on my 75g tank and it works good, but not as good as some otherskimmers i have seen: ER, Deltec. As for a small skimmer the 65 is probably one of the best, but i have never seen that many other small skimmers in action. Isnt there a small ER or ASM? That may be good to look into also...

I have a ASM G-4 on my 90g and it works great. This tank must have a hob skimmer so I"m kind of limited...

I have used 2 remoras and 2 remora pros and I really liked them. I recently purchased a deltec MC500 from reef central member I just got it and so far so good. I will see how it compares to the remoras I used. I think for them money the remoras are a good skimmer though, especially the pro version.
