1" Sea Swirl or Wavy Sea?
for my return line(changing out "T" to 2 outlets at either end)
...pump is GRI 520...and i'm a little worried it will be too strong for a SS?

I've had SS's for.....8 years? As a matter of fact, I recently has SS rebuild them, and they commented that they were very early units, among their first.
Anyway, thay ran fine for me for about 5 years and I totally negelcted them. The rebuild was complete, all the guts are brand new, and it was only $75. I've been very satisfied with the SS's. However, if I was buying today, those Wavy's are sure sexy, and I'd try at least one for sure. I'm building a new 210, and I wouldn;t be surprised in a Wavy found it's way into the tank.

Hhmm, I have the 3/4's and I recall the SS people telling me a couple of months ago that the max flow is something a bit above 800 GPH (860?). 1 inch is quite a bit bigger than 3/4, so I'd guestimate 1400 or 1500 with no trouble.
I did run a single 3/4 for a short time with an Eheim 1262 driving it. I think the Eheim is about 1000 GPH at no head. It made a very powerfut jet, and it blew sand around the tank. So maxing them out is not the best option if you have a DSB. I guessed wrong, from the Sea Swirl website: Flow Rate of One Inch Model - 1150 GPH I wonder if that is lowballed some.

I have used both but I don't remember the cost of the 1" model. I think the WS is only about $50 more and with that you can push 2,000GPH, you get the controller, it is totally silent, and mounting is better in most applications. The only thing is we don't know the longevity of them.
I just got the WS+ and I was told it can handle 3,500GPH+ for $250 from Aq Specialty (RC Sponsor). I've had about four SS and 2 of them had problems, the other two never had a problem. I have about 5 or 6 pix in here, but none in operation yet. The WS+ looks exactly the same but apparently has stronger seals. http://homepage.mac.com/dfliger/PhotoAlbum11.html

Do a search for mchava, Mario successfully did it. There are some other thoughts on the subject as well in that thread. He used a standard WS, which is rated to 2,000-2,300GPH. I am using the WS+ which is supposed to handle almost double that. I think the WS is an incredible piece of equipment, with one Stream you could cover an entire tank. Just hope it stands up over time, I guess I will find out. ;-) I'm really happy with Aq Specialty, there is a sponsor forum. There is also a Wavy Sea sponsor forum. I gotta run.
