What's difference in phosphate reactor and fluidized bed filter
What's the difference in these two types?
Also, I need to add a phosphate reactor to my 180 and I'm not sure what to get - the phosphate reactor or fluidized bed filter. Also, which brand. Thanks! |

im no expert but the phosphate reactor is designed to house phosphate absorbing media, and the fluidized bed filter is a type of bio filter that uses small pieces of gravel for bacteria to attach to kind of like bio balls. from what i was told the fluidized bed filter is not very good for reef systems because it produces lots of nitrates and if you have a power outage it "dies" quickly. Hopefully some one can correct me if im wrong.

AqCons -
It's the same thing. A fluidized bed reactor is just a general term. A phosphate reactor is a fluidized bed reactor that is used with phosphate absorbing material. You can use a fluized bed reactor to also run other stuff - such as carbon. I have two fluidized bed reactors - one of a phosphate absorber and another for carbon. Here's the one I am using. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...product=TL4311 http://www.twolittlefishies.com/tlf_...html?lang_id=1 Of course you can also DIY one yourself. Minh |
