Finger Leather Coral

I have a finger leather coral in my 29g tank. I have 2x65W power compact lighting. I recently upped the water flow to around 400 gph. I had some water flow problems over the past 2 weeks and the flow had dropped significantly. The water quality is good. As a result the finger leather has grown beyond belief. The leather is several inches tall and probably 2" in diameter. When I upped the water flow the leather has bent over significantly. Should I frag off the main branches and restart with several smaller leathers or should I let it go and see if it strengthens up in the water flow?

As an aside, I have 2 Rio 800's in the tank. They are at each corner of the tank on the back glass facing the front. I could always move one of the powerheads lower in the tank on the side glass opposite the leather if that would be useful.

Straight flow is probably not as good as random flow (i.e. more turbulent, flow not going in the same direction all the time). (which is why many people use pump controllers of some time).

The leather will probably be fine even it does grow bent over...

If you don't want to see it bent over, frag it...

THere is no "wrong" answer here.

I agree. I'd just let the coral grow. If you don't like the looks, you could try reducing the flow to that area.

Just let it grow, IMO. You don't want a tank full of finger leathers, do you?

I agree as well. Mine is doing the same thing in my Seahorse tank. It bent over and is now attaching itself to a different rock.

Its happy...so I'm happy!
