Auto-Shut off for my RO/DI??

I tried to test my shut off for my ro/di but closing a ball valve running to my trash can, and it just blew off the output hose from pressure build up, now does this mean my shut off isnt working of is closing a valve like that always gonna do that.....The reason im wondering is cause I want to hook up my float valve to the trash can but dont want to if its not working correctly.

unfortunatly im using this one but plan on upgrading soon...im basically wondering does the gradual build up of pressure cause the auto shut off to stop the water, cause me just shutting a valve may have made it not work.

not to mention I only get about 30-40gal a day out of it.(could this be due to it runs through about 15-20 feet before it gets to the can?)

your output being low can come from the water being to cold, and not enough water pressure going in. could also be your flush valve is open instead of being closed.

double check to make sure everything is hooked up right first. then put the ball valve on the hose. see if you can pull it off by hand. if you can then it may be faulty, or the end of the hose needs to be trimmed. if you cant pull it off, there may be a problem with the shut-off.

i wouldnt get a new unit just yet. its basicly what i have until the DI part. i would take the carbon filter off (the last stage). those may leech back into the water. then once you need a new DI cartage, just buy a horizontal, refillable canister, and your set.

If the auto shutoff isn't working the system would just waste water constantly. The fact that a hose blew off makes me think something isnt hooked up right or you didn't have a good connection at the ball valve. I have had John Guest fittings pop off of they arent inserted all the way.

the system pretty much came put together, I didnt put the shut off on myself....by flush valve do you mean the waste water output? there is a nob that I can control how much waste water is put out.

I like your idea instead of buying a new one, could save me alot of money.

so by closing a valve with it on full blast it should just shut off?

i took of that last carbon stage. and the lines dont pull out on the shut off valve.

my lines are hooked up just like this picture.

this was a few months ago I tested it should I test it with the float valve or try it with the ball valve I have midway down the line.

with mine, the black knob that you can see in the pic above is the flush valve. off for me is 90º, instead of perpindicular like shown. that could be the out put problem.

the way i have mine set up now is i have the ball valve about 3' out from the unit. then i have about 20' of line going to a float valve mounted in a trash can. if your ball valve keeps blowing off, i would try to replace it. home depot should have them for about $4-$5. any ideas on your houses water pressure?

Ya mines looks like the picture and there is alot of waste water, my ball valve is about halfway down the line, it was the ball valve that poped off it was the line right at the exit of the ro unit. Im gonna give it another shot right now.

well i just tested it and it seems like it shut off, im thinking cause that last stage with the carbon had no locking device it couldnt hand even a little bit off pressure and nocked the line off, after taking that stage off the DI had a lock for the line on it now it seems to have worked, guess im going to hook up the float now.

auto shut off is hooked up and its filling up, looks like its working pretty well its about to the shut off point....figures that it was probaly something stupid like a loose tube that malfunctioned.

I really appreciate the help and tips, ill let ya know if the float valve works also.
