Rowaphos Or Phosban in fluval canister
Can either Rowaphos or Phosban be used in a canister filter? I have the 204 fluval model that once in a while I use to polish the water, or do I need a special reactor? and wich one is a better product Rowaphos or Phosban?
Thanks in advance. |

i would say no for the canister....the problem is, at least i know with the phosban, is that the volume of water being passed through the filter will tumble the media, causing it to get ground up, and into your sytem... i think the highest recommended flow rate is something like 60-80 gph? maybe not even that high....i just know that when you have the media in the reactor you want the flow to just barely and i mean barely move the media.....

How about if I slow the flow on the filter down?

phosban reactors are cheap--around $32. Either media needs to be barely moving.

I have phosban in my canister filter (ehiem). It seems to work well, has lowered phosphate. It does not get ground up either. Later.
