Icecap 3000 for T5s?
I was wondering if 2 Icecap 3000 ballasts would work for a T5 fixture for my tank. I want to run 2 24" actinics on one ballast, and 2 24" aquablues on the other. The reason for not using the Icecap 430 or 660 is that I am trying to save on the cost of the system while still getting the output of Icecap ballasts.
Thanks, Stew |

does the IC 3000 even run t5ho? i see its made for t8s.
it also appears that it does not overdrive the builbs like the 430/660, so, i doubt it will do what you want it to. If it did, wouldnt you think it would take sales away from the 430/660 since its cheaper?

marine depot says that it is designed to run any normal output t8 t5 or CFL lamps. Even if it does not overdrive the lamps wouldnt it still be good for driving the actinics since you are not trying to get PAR out of them?

I don't think the 3000 is designed for HO T5 lamps, go ask about it in the Ice Cap forum, they are good about answering such questions.
