How they work

An RO DI system can be setup in alot of different ways.

You can have a put away unit that you only take out and use when you need to make your water or you can have a system that makes all of your water and stores it for you until needed.

There are places in between as well. What would you like to accomplish with your system and we can help you figure out the best way to achieve it

OK

You are in a less expensive cost bracket then

Standard RO DI will suffice

I will send you a link to a good example

Try this

Here is a link to our Product manual for the vision system.
This should help.

I'd recommend starting off by testing your source water so you know how much filtration you need. Get a TDS meter like this one . Some places have great water to start with, whereas others (like what I have in AZ) have bad quality water that needs a lot of filtration before it can be used in a reef tank.

Cant answer that

You need to find out what your over all pressure is in the home.
An outside faucet will be that number.

I've got a three-stage SpectraPure that has worked pretty well for me. It came with a water hose adapter (standard?), so I just plug it up to a water hose outside and put the clean water tube in my jug and I'm all set. It's pretty easy to use. I've changed the two filters out a couple times with ease. I haven't changed the membrane yet, though, which is the expensive part.

You would need to go to home depot and DIY a pressure gauge system for a hose bib. The cool thing is you can use it later for the system.

Basicly you need a pressure gauge and a hosebib adaptor. The hosebib adaptor will be made by WATTS and is located in the plumbing section.
Get the one with the 1/4 inch compression connection.
Then you will need a pressure gauge and a stem for the gauge that will compress to a 1/4 inch tube.

Put that together and screw it on to your hosebib outside then turn on the water full blast. That should tell you what the pressure is at that outlet

Good luck!

Hmmm

I didnt think that a company like Spectrapure would be using single O-ring housings with a plastic bracket and no gauge. How much did you pay for that?

Thats just an RO system though.

Bryan,

I am doing some research on RO/DI units and will be purchasing down the road. I am converting one of my FW tanks to SW (44gal)and agree that I need better water. I asked the bank (wife) for a loan to buy a unit. She has proposed that she would also like a system for drinking water and the ice maker. Swaying her was easier than I expected but, strings are attached. Do you sell a smaller unit that you would recommend for all of my purposes? I can safely state that we would not use anywhere near 50 - 75 gallons per day.

Bryan,

I appreciate your response... I did not ask for any pricing from you anywhere in my thread. I asked you for a recommendation on which of your products would be most closely suited towards my needs. As I stated previously... "I am doing some research on RO/DI units and will be purchasing down the road." I have a smaller tank and would also like to use this system for an ice maker and drinking water. I did not want to waste your time seeing as I am not buying today but, wanted to seriously evaluate your equipment based upon my needs. I tried calling but, your phones appear to be troubled today.

Im sorry about that and we are having technical issues with the systems today because we are having electric work done which is causing the systems to be up and down. We had to go digital..Oh well.

The phones are up at the moment if you could call now
