Fans
Anyone have recommandations for some very quite 4" fans? I am currently using 2 Orion 4" fans that are so loud I can barely hear my T.V.. Also does anyone know if DC fans are more quite?

DC is the way to go, not only for noise but safety as well. Check out the Vantec Stealth fans. I am using 4 of the 4.5" super quiet and good flow.

I'm not sure if it was tigerdirect or one of the small pc sellers online. If you google vatec stealth you'll get a hit for their website, then you can choose the model you want, google that and compare some prices.

Also, you can go to www.silentpcreview.com and check out their recommended fans, or their forums. Lots of good stuff there. |

Vantec Stealth only 20 to 28 dBa at full speed. Add a WalMart or Harbor Freight variable voltage DC power supply and you won't hear them running. I have two of the 120mm in my canopy and everyone that comes over remarks about how quiet my system is. |

The way the e-bay guy is wiring his fans they won't last as long. He configures them to blow out over the fan so you draw hot damp salty air over the fan and it will corrode and gum up faster. You should have the fans drawing dry cool air over themselves and pushing the hot damp air out another opening.
