Bad Ballast? Help needed!!!

I took down my hood to install a new moon-light over the weekend. While it was down, I also switched the placement of two T5 bulbs (swapped an Actinic and Blue+)

When I plugged the T5 back in, it went "CRACK" and fried my power strip!!
I thought that maybe there was too much in the strip, so I plugged it directly into the wall.
Now the whole fuse is messed up (flipping the breaker does nothing).

Is my ballast bad? I didn't mess with any wiring... all I did was move one bulb from the back to teh front and vice versa. BOth were still on the same ballast to begin with though, and I didn't add any extra wattage to the whole system. How could it "blow" and how the HECK could it even go as far as messing up my house's electrical system?

btw, this is the T5 system that I was using:

How old is it. I would give Greg a call or email and see what the problem might be. He is very helpful and will do all he can.

Just called... He thinks that one of the wires on the power supply side of the ballast is probably loose and caused a short.

Checking tonight

I figured out the problem (with Greg's help)...
It WAS the power cord. The wires had pulled out of the ballast a little, and then ended up crossing. This shorted out the whole circuit and fried a GFI plug outside next to the grill.
I'm going to ahve to replace it this weekend b/c the little switches are all messed up.
