I have not hooked it up yet but I am sure that it will work. The customer service at www.autotopoff.com is top notch.
I got 2 solenoinds in case one sticks (not that one sticking is common but just in case). He made mine so that it is latching to help the ro membrane life, and I have another switch that is the cut-off for the whole system in case the top latching switch were to get stuck. I have two switch holders. All three switches are protected by pvc so that nothing gets wedged in there. On 1 switch holder there is a top and bottom switch. The bottom turns on the RO unit and the top turns off the ro unit. This keeps the ro unit from being turned on and off at short intrevals. The second switch holder just has 1 switch that is mounted higher than the 2nd switch on the first holder. If the top switch on the first holder fails the switch on the 2nd holder will cut off the ro unit. |

Tunze osmolator!
Relies on optical sensor to turn on and a float sensor to turn off if the water level is too high. Because it is optical, there is nothing mechanical that can stick or fail. The only negative points: - the optical sensor has to be placed somewhere where there is little to no turbulence in the water or could be covered in saltspray - the pump can fail and you are limited to reservoir placement by the length of hose. Roger of Tunze states that you really should try to push the pump further than the included hose.

The Tunze has been a favorite of mine and several others for a while. It has several failsafes, but it still has room for improvement (like that cheap little DC pump that you must use because its integrated).
Recently, I saw the new ELOS ATO, new to the US...its features seem like they took the TUNZE and filled in the blanks. It even has emergency programming built in so that it wont flood your tank if the float gets stuck (it uses a time sensor on the floats so that if it senses that the floats do not indicate that the sump/tank is filling after a certain amount of time, it assumes a problem and shuts off! here... http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...hreadid=819203 |

I'm in the process of looking for a auto topoff controller too. I kind'a leading toward the "Poseidon" made by Oceanus systems or the reef-relief (AATOC) made by reeftek. Does anybody know the difference between these two and how they operate?

Forgot to mention, that I will be running the ro/di line straight to these controllers and not to a reservior container, because space is limited. Would this be a safe method? I see few people has done this way, but just want to be sure before I purchase this controller.
