What is the life of T5 and MH bulbs

so many people keep giving me different answers. please only reply if you have used HM or T5's and know for certain the bulb life. please dont guess.

some people have told me 4months and some have said 3 years for both. i want to know the usable life PLEASE PLEASE.

cant decide what setup to buy

In my opinion I would change out my T5's every 12-18 months. MH's are good for 8-12 months depending on brand and type of bulb.

I've read some interesting articles about how T5's are only truly good for 8-10 months if overdriven.

I got my 175W MH from aquatraders.com and they told me to replace the bulb after 6 months but I only have it on for 5 hrs a day then swith to 64W PC for 6 hrs. I may be able to run the MH for about 9 months but will see after 6 months how the corals are doing.
