Choosing between 3 pumps

I am looking at the following pumps. In parentheses is the flow that I would get from each pump in my setup (inline use).

Mag 7 (425 gph)
Sen 700 (550 gph)
Quiet One 3000 (510 gph)

I like the Mag reliability, the Sen output and the Quiet One electrical efficiency.

Can anyone give me pros/cons?

I'm sticking with pumps that are energy effecient now
Electric cost is not going down

I considered that but it would give me the least output of the three and cost twice as much...not to mention be twice as large.

Actually, it would give you the most output. The specs are misleading. Yes, it is big, yes it costs more. It is also extremely quiet, doesn't fall flat on its face when you add head pressure like others, doesn't have restart problems like the QO, and reliability is measure in decades. The is the Pump Deltec and H&S use on their high end skimmers.

if you use the sen 700, you'll be also adding a chiller or a fan to cool of the tank.. burning even more electricity.
EHEIM, my 1262 with butt end out the water for 2 days, was cool to the touch. and with head load of the ev180, only 51 watts..
qo, um my 4000 lasted 1 month before breaking impeller shaft.

Hmmm...looks like Eheim is the early favorite!

I know their dependability record and I dont mind the cost so much.

Anyone else?

Question about the Eheim.

Says the length is 8.6". My sump area is juuuust over 9". So, it would fit if there is no prefilter on it...or is this WITH the prefilter?

Could anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks

Another question~

Any way I can go about calculating the head loss of this pump?

Specs:

1" plumbing
1 45 elbow
2 90 elbow
4.5 ft vertical height
3/4" locline outlet
1 ball valve
2 unions

Just measured my 1260. Its ~ 7" long with the prefilter.

EDIT
The headloss is hard to say. The HL calc on this site is not correct. It shows a Mag7 and1260 (1060) as being ~ the same. No way. The 1260 has A LOT more flow.

Sweet sjm...I really appreciate that.

And you say the head loss will be the least with this pump?

Im looking to get at least 500gph

eheim yes costs twice as much, but will last more than twice as long in general. and run quiet and efficient.
I think the 8.6 is if you have the input hose fitting on?

the graphs for the eheim are based on the 50hz, at 60hz its stronger. There really isn't much to say it will have so much unless someone measures it on their own.

On another pump that shows both 50 and 60hz curves, it comes makes a diff of about 5' head on those, not necessarilly the same diff though.
