I'm looking at buying a pump off of eBay. The guy that has it was using it to cool his computer. The pump is discolored brown because of the "UV dye." I'm a little concerned about using this pump because of the "UV dye." Is there a way I can flush it out to make sure it is OK to use or do you think I should stay away from it? It is so tempting because it's a good deal. I'm just concerned about it messing up my tank.
What do you guys think? |

I cant imagine a pump to cool a computer would be any bigger than a powerhead. Its probably pumping some sort of coolant across his CPU. You can get maxijet powerheads for $12.95 online I think. I wouldnt risk the money really, it might not even work as good. If you are looking for something just to move a little water, the Aqualifter is $10-11.

This is an Eheim 1260 (602gph) pump. All it said was UV dye. I think I might pass on it.

Without knowing the dye, I'd be a little concerned, although I do expect you can clean it.
