how often do i wash out the filter on my skimmers return

the black circular one that goes around the return from my euro-reef skimmer. how oftn should i take it off and wash it out? thanks

I clean mine monthly. What I did was got a second one and switch back and forth with them. I soak the dirty one in vinigar and water solution for a day then rinse well . let dry and good to go for the next changeover.
