do t5 lights realy provide that much less heat then pc lights

I would think that they would produce a simular amount of heat at the same wattage. The distance between the glass might help T5's vent better than PC's (UUUU vs. | | | |). I think you have to look at the other advantages of T5 vs. PC if you are thinking about switching.

I am thinking of switching from fluros to either T5's or PC's. Which are better? I have a 48inch tank and it is only 18inch deep. What are the benefits of each one.

well i personaly have pc right now i am happy with them but heat is an issue, i want MH but that is gonna make it even worse. what i need fisrt is a chiller. but $$$$$$$ you know what i mean

If you vent out the Mh, you should be fine. I had heat problems with my pcs (not terrible, but I was a little dissapointed with the fans that came with my fixture). What I did was replace the fans with computer fans. bigger, quieter, and better air flow.

vishboy------ what type of light fixture do you have and what fans did you use mine is a coralife fixture 36in 192 watts of light let me know if you think the fans you got will work.
