Is this a cucumber?
I found this little guy on a coral that I got today. I think it came in with the coral though I didn't notice it until the coral had been in the tank for a little while so it may have been in my tank.
Anyone know what it is? It looks like a cucumber to me. I just wanted to make sure it was a bad guy... ![]() |

Certainly looks like one.
Couldn't begin to tell you if it's one you want in your reef or not. |

I forgot to say that it's about an inch long.
Are there any bad cucumbers? I figured they all just stirred the sand for you... -Jeremy |

If it's only an inch long it could be some sort of predatory nudibranch (or some other form of predatory worm).
QT to make sure (the coral I mean). |

It's difficult to tell with the picture. There isn't much contrast to give it shape. It's most likely a cucumber, but there is a chance that it is a nudibranch as stated above, or even a medusa worm.

yes, its reef safe... but toxic if it dies in your tank 1 in a 90 is not bad if you have good filtration even if it dies, but 3 thats taking chances.

It looks like the Cucumbers Ive had...the Local kind here in Fl which are non toxic....Ive lost 2 to the powerheads which are now covered and have never had any problems....they are great sand sifters though and get rid of the brown alge in the sand! I personally Like them...but to each their own!

Well, thanks for everyone's replies. It seems that the consensus is that it is a cuke.
It looked like one to me. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing something obvious. It was a little difficult to photograph given it's small size. It definitely seemed to move like a cucumber rather than like a nudi... Thanks again! |
