What do you use for (safe) heaters?

What does everyone use in the way of a heater that is safe? I've heard good and bad things about Titanium/metal heaters and i've heard good and bad things about ebo's, whats everyone using and whats the best way to protect my tank from heater screwups?

No heater at all dang mag 12 and 65watt fuge light that runs at night produce enought heat to keep the tank at 74 in the winter. This last winter I started using 2” thick styrofoam to cover the front panel at night which keepts the tank at a nice 78. Not sure about your winter but CA can hit the low 40s at night.

I've been using ebo jager for years with no failures. I have a few of the old green ones and a few of the new Ehiem ones.

I think the best thing to do is to run two high quality heaters (I like Ebo-Jeager), plug them into a power strip, and then plug the power strip into a controller. You only need a single stage controller to run your heaters, and they are a great insurance policy in protecting your tank. When heaters fail, they are likely to stick in the on position and cook your tank. The controller will turn it on and off as needed, so that can never happen.

Finnex makes a good heater and you can get a controller as an option for this heater. Got mine about a month ago and it has worked fine so far. Premium Aquatics has them. I like the idea of having its own controller in case it does stick on. I would stay away from the Won Brothers Pro Heat heaters. This is what I had before and both of them went bad.
