dusty live rock?? & urchin poop!!

it seems like there is dust or something all over my live rock...

there is kelp growing on some of the rock and it's all dusty too...

is this algae, and what little critters eat this stuff?



also nobody ever told me how much sea urchins poop... good lord!!! there is tiny little urchin poop everywhere!

i get the dust on my rocks too. get a turkey baster and blow it off.

Exacly I do the same thing everyday. I use a turkey baster and blow the dust off my rocks so that it goes to my overflow and get to my skimmer.

I have 2 diadema sea urchins, and yes, they poo a lot You can't exactly scale back their feeding since they just graze on LR. If they happen upon some, my hermit crabs take care of it.

It sounds like you need some more powerheads to increase your flow. A lot of water movement will keep the poop broken up and detritus off of your rocks.
