Moving 120g reef w/DSB soon, need advice
I will be moving my tanks to a new house in a couple months, 120g reef & 75g eel. The eel is a no prob, but the reef has a 3 year old DSB. Should I NOT distrub the DSB or is it ok to remove the sand then put it back at the new location? Ive read you shouldn't disturb it but i'd like to hear any comments or suggestions/advice you might have . Thanks.

I've moved with a 75 then a few years later with a 220. On the 75 I didn't remove the sand, but pulled my back out quite badly in the move. The back has never been the same. I didn't do the same on the 220. 6 5-gal buckets of sand and my brother to move them worked out much better. Save your back pull the sand. Or have your younger brother and his friend throw their backs out

I'm no expert, but can't you disturb small sections of sand every week or so? Just keep an eye on your params?
Or move the sand last and give it a super good rinse in the tank water then perhaps successive batches of aged saltwater? |
