angelfish and copper treatment
Other than the normal arguements for not using copper, has anyone ever heard that copper is bad for Angelfish?
I bought a potter's angel and last night I started running copper as a preventative measure. The calculated dosage for my qt tank was 31.25ml of the copper product that I purchased. I added 26ml instead of the full dosage. Will this be ok? |

Copper does not adversly effect fish the same way that it effects invertebrates. It should be fine. Make sure that you move the infected fish to a hospital tank for treatment. Make sure that you are treating the correct affliction. If it is a bacterial infection, it won't be as effective as if it were something like gill flukes. If you don't moce the infected fish any invertebrates in your tank will be long gone, and the tank will nearly be useless unless it is scrubbed with muratic acid to remove the copper from the silicon.

Well my opinion is copper should not be used unless there is an illness. Why stress out a perfectly healthy fish if it shows no signs of sickness. Quarentine is fine for observation of a new fish but if its not sick, why treat it ?
