water changes

I needed to do a water change in my reef tank. I mixed about 10 gallons of water and was going to let it sit til in the morning. I ended up getting busy at work and haven't had a chance for the water change. How long can I let salt water sit stagnate? It has been sitting about 48 hours, atm.
Secondly, if I can't find RO water what water is best to use? Something I can purchase quickly.

1st: It is probably fine if it has been covered... I would stick a powerhead and/or heater in there for a few hours to heat up and aerate the water.

2nd: Distilled water. Walmart has it for like $.39 per gallon I think... Have you conisdered buying a RO/DI unit?

It was covered, but not air tight. There was a store near my house that sells RO water, but they discontiuned it. My LFS is setting up an RO unit to sell water so that wont be problem. I just need to do a water change today and my LFS wont have any water til maybe tomorrow or thursday.

Also, my pink xenia has started to get a white spot on one of the heads, before it begins to branch off. Is this due to my nitrates? the spot is pretty decent sized. Most of the head.
