What does a gate valve do on a skimmer?
I was looking at asmskimmer.com and they have a gate valve mod. I have an ASM G3 and was wondering what the benefit would be by having this mod? It looks very simple to make so I was just wondering.

It allows you greater control over the skimmate as opposed to the riser tube. In addition it is a lot easier to adjust then trying to pull on the tube.

yeah, easier to adjust. and almost-maybe-perhaps more important is it reduces splashing and the resulting salt crust on everything.
