Is this light adequate to my tank?

I've gotten a hold of a marine depot magazine and they seem to have some pretty good deals in there all around. I've been on the hunt for a temporary but still pretty decent lighting system and I think I found it in this magazine. I have a 125G tank that I plan on putting LR, anenome's, fish, and coral in. I know the light is not so much needed for the LR and fish but for the coral and anenome's, it's basically their life line so I figure I'd better get a lighting system that can sustain them till I get my permanent fixture. The system though is a USA PowerCompact Orbit Fixture.It has a 10,000 White PowerCompact bulb, and Actinic 7,100 Blue bulb and a lunar light. Measurements are 72" 4 x 96W + 6 LunarLight. All for the price of $458.90 - I personally found this to be a good deal, better than any I can find in any local stores, and it seems to me that it will light my tank alright. My tank is a 72" x 18" x 20 1/2" - Will this light do the trick as a temp? Thanks for the info,

what kind of corals? LPS is about all. if you can afford it, go with the outer orbit. it has MH's and you can have just about any coral eventually. as for a new set-up and a beginner in reefs. you will need alot of research before SPS's. your parameters will need to be perfect for about a year (IMHO) before addition of them. REEF-ON!!!

While I'd have to agree that a lighting system that would include metal halides would be preferable, since your tank, though a big one isn't particularly deep, you could suffice with the lighting fixture that you've asked about. There will, IMO, be some limitations on which coral you'd be able to keep and where the ones that you do keep would have to be placed in the tank, you'd be able to successfully keep a wide range of soft coral and some LPS, though I'm not totally confident about the anemones. I think that you should consider the possibility that you may want to keep SPS at some point in the future and if you may, then spend some more now and get the metal halides. But again, the light's you've been looking at would most likely be adequate for a reef that you'd be proud of, given the limitations on which coral you could keep and the probability that you couldn't keep anemones for long.
