Hippo Tang With Parasite?

My hippo tang that I've had for more than 6months has recently got some parisite on its body and over its one eye. It could be ich on the body but the cloudy spot over the eye is strange. I tried taking a picture but it won't stay still. Also I used Vita Chem another time when this happened, do you think that is a cure or does it not help.

Has anyone had this happed to their Hippos before?

Freshwater Dip

I forgot to mention that my LFS told me to do a freshwater dip but the fish is too hard to catch in a 150 gallon tank. Also I do have a UV sterilizer, but I haven't changed the bulb in over a year.

Thanks

they claim that feeding food that contains garlic will help. you might want to try that. Did you add fish lately? or are you doing lots of stuff to your tank? this will cause stress on fish. I think the best thing to do is to over feed the tank until he rids the parasite or die but keep in mind you WILL have to do water changes frequently.

I do have a cleaner shrimp and I give the fish food flakes with garlic. At this point I think I might try the vitachem tonight.

Did anyone every try dipping the fish in freshwater for about 7-8 minutes?

Freshwater dips sometimes help, however, they sometimes cause more trouble. The stress caused by this dip could wind up being fatal by retarding the fish's already diminished immune system. Usually good water quality coupled with a vitamin enriched diet works wonders. The use of garlic may help as well.

May hippo was sick for 3 months, she was about the size of quarter. She is now 3 years old, and all I ever used is cleaner shrimp and cleaner gobies and would def. reccomend the gobies over the shrimp as after my shrimp got huge they started to comptet with coral for food. Just hang in there and feed well. I would never mess with putting garlic in my tank or other stuff jsut watch out. watch water parameter also if your feeding tons of new stuff.
