All Glass Aquarium Owners
Do the moulded center brace(s) on your megaflow tanks cast a shadow in the center of the tank. Are you using T5's? Halides?? Have you had problems with the corals growing down the middle?
What are some of youe experiences with the quality of All Glass tanks? Thanks in advance! |

Had the brace on my 65 and also on my new 90. I ran dual MH`s on the 65 and have duals on the 90. I got no shadow from that but do notice it with just the actinics on before and after the MH cycle.
No growth problems I have seen on mine.

Thanks for the information. I was looking to go all T5's on a my next tank and just looking at options. I am worried that with T5's since there arent seperate pendants that a shadow would be cast where the brace is.....

No problem. Did forget to mention that my 65 ran 2-T5s for actinic supplement and my current 90 runs 2-VHOs for the supplement.
You may not have an issue with more than 2 bulbs in there as it will flood the tank more with light. Don't take my word on that as my experience is only with 2 and it does cause a slight shadow down the middle. I`m sure with all the people on here someone has the setup you are looking for and a AGA tank with the brace who can comment.

the t5s wont cause shadows with centerbraces because they are not a point source of light like a MH is.

I Just got my TekLight today, running a 4x39w configuration over a 38g AGA tank. No shadow from the center brace.

Interesting that it doesn't cast a shadow..... When I say shadow I mean a decreased area of light, not a full dark area or anything. Well it goes against what you would anticipate would happen. Good to know. I wonder if going through all of this trouble to find a eurobraced tank is worth it? Megaflow tanks are way cheaper. I would rather half the skinny moulding (although not tranparent) on an AGA down the center than the wide center brace on standard tank or small cutouts on standard acrylic tanks.
