Hi all!
I have found what i thought was a small aptasia on my rock in a small hole. But after closer look im not so sure, have looked on aptasia forum but does not look like any on there. When lights are lower it looks to have different colours which reflect off of lights, the colours are red and green. It almost looks like glitter. It also seems to have a couple of tiny worms in the centre Any ideas what it could be??? Unable to send photo as its small and tucked away. Thanks for any help |

Identification of critters with a photo is often very tricky, without a pic, it's pretty much impossible. Aiptasia and feather dusters look very different from eachother, and have different personalities. They both tend to spread like wildfire, but feather dusters are harmless.
Advising you to keep what ever it is could be problematic for you, but I don't want you to just kill something without reason.

aptasia looks like aptasia regardless of its size. I would say if it doesnt look like any aptasia pics you have found then its not aptasia. Does it look like a feather duster.
I tried to identify a coral a few weeks back and no-one could tell me. It was easy a super neon green candy cane coral. To me it was obvious what it looked like so I stated it was super neon green, a small round coral with tenticals out of its mouth. Easy huh.... not so without a pic.

This might help you see some color/shape variation in Aiptasia. I don't remember where I got this pic from, but it's not mine. I wish I could give credit where it's due.
