Question OUO or UOU?

I am really curious if there is a specific reason to choose an over under over sump bubble trap design rather than an under over under design.

It seems to me that UOU would allow you to maximize the return section volume and minimize splashing - but it seems like most everyone that has posted pics has OUO.

Thoughts?

In my first sump, I did an under, over, under. The problem with it is that there is nothing to stir up the surface of the section that it is flowing into. I ended up with gunk collecting on the surface. In my second sump, I did an over, under, over and it works much better to keep the surface mixed.

Sounds like a good enough reason to me.

Thanks for the information!

Over Under Over splits the sump into 3 sections. Under over under splits it only into two sections. (As far as water level is concerned)
