Liverock curing question

I am getting liverock on Friday UPS thats fresh uncured. Should I use RO/DI water to mix the salt with for the trashcan that I am curring my rocks is or does it really matter just for curring my rocks? I will be doing water changes every few days while curing and also I will run my Remora Pro skimmer on it. I just want to use water from the hose because its outside and easier. I am just wondering if the silica and other bad stuff would be in the rock if I dont use RO/DI?

WHAT DO YOU THINK????

Jay

Your better off with the ro/di. Using your tap could cause unwanted algae to grow. If you cure without lighting you could be ok using the tap, but without light any corals on the rock could die off as well as some coraline algae.

I doubt there will be any corals on the rock. That would be nice but usually doesnt happen. I am mostly worried about the rock absorbing anything from the tap water and causing problems when I put the rock under 10000k 250 halide illumination. I dont want a algea problem because the rocks absorbed something bad.

use ro/di.... better be on the safe side

also when your cycling your tank.... dont turn on any lights!
let it cycle without lights and then you wont get a huge amount of algae
