Do you all quarantine corals and fish prior to putting them in your tank?

Do you quarantine corals and fish prior to putting them in your tank? If so how? would just like a 5 gal aquarium with some saltwater and a cheap light work ? Also how long do you need to do this for and what do you look for or do when they are in the quarantine tank?

I don't...only because I only buy fish and corals from other reefers' established tanks. I'm kinda like an adoption agency for marine livestock....still wouldn't be a bad practice, cause who knows who lies aboutt their fishes' medical records, but I still say my chances are significantly reduced from those who purchase from LFS'.

Those that have troublefree pest free tanks typically do. Here is a great article that you should read. It will educate you quickly.

I've got a fungia disk coral in my QT right now. It's been in there for about a week and is looking great. I feed it Mysis shrimp and it devourers the Mysis almost instantly. I'm almost ready to add it to my main display and I'm confident that I'm not going to add anything that may cause problems!

The QT is your friend!

Great advice and link.

I never did, but over time I've paid the price and changed my practices to always include QT.
A wonderful little pest ate this coral, along with other Montipora:

That's my hard lesson in learning to QT ...
