Which is the best or best bang for the buck? IT seems they all vary in price but look the same.

Dr. Foster and Smith has a portable one for only like 44 bucks.

I would go with the second one because it has the automatic temperature compensation. If you are going to spend that much money on a refractometer then you definatly want to be accurate. I purchased this one here and am very happy with it. It has a large enough clear display (i hear some are so small you really can't read them), atc, and has it's own calibration screw. I am happy with it.

any opinions on the Milwauke ? It seems to be a great deal and is 10 bucks cheaper then then the Captive purity from Marine Depot
