Anyone use ALGONE to help contaraol nitrates
I am beginning to see a raise in nitrate levels to between 12 and 25 and the resultant hair algae growth. A friend of mine recommended the use of ALGONE to help contraol the nitrate problem. Any one have an opinion

I doubt that addatives will solve your problem. Better skimming and a fuge are better ways to lower nitrates.

as always try to find out whats causing the problem and treat that instead of treating the result

Agreed - chemical control of nitrate might be a temporary solution, but you'd be better off spending the money investing in a nice skimmer.

Agreed, my nitrates were 20-30(little overstocked). Skimmer knocked it down to 5 so i tried algone to see if it would go to zero. Didn't go down anymore at all with the algone, stayed right at 5. Skimmer was much more helpful.
