Can Someone please Identify this thing?
Hi All,
can someone tell me what this is and if it's reef safe? My wife found it crusin' on the floor this morning ( which didn't go over very well) Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! |

It's a run of the mill Chiton. They are reef safe algae grazers. You can easily identify them by the eight articulating plates on its back. Enjoy!

yes i have had chiton they arent bad a little chewey but with some tobasco mmmmmmm

As your wife discovered, chitons are predominantly intertidal, and have no fears about coming out of the water and then hunkering down when things get dry, and staying there till they die.
