?Live rock with lots of life
I'll be moving to a new house later this year and will upgrade from my 55 to a 180 or 125 (my wife prefers the smaller footprint of the 125). Here is the question-----when I set up the 55-gal, I got all of my lilve rock for the lfs. It was all pretty much white with a little bilt of coralline but that's abnout all.
I will move my the 55 gallon over and liesurely set up the larger tank. I would like to find a supplier through whom I can receive Fiji and other live rock that arrives at my door with the profusion of coralline and inverts I see in some of the on-line photos. I'd apprecilae suggestions of good sources of FRESH live rock.

Ron,
You are going to get 100 different answers all of which will overlap slightly in where to buy. My opinion is Dr. Macs who has good variety (Tonga, Fiji). he is a sponsor here and if you read the sponsor threads on his company, you will be amazed and the quality and personal experience he brings to every order. HTH Chris

I agree it has tons of life and hitchhikers but the rock is dense / heavy. The rocks are surfaces is smoothand not very interesting in shape and feature.
I decided to save money and buy dead base rock and seed it with LR. I don't have to cure it and foul the water with die off, or unwanted organism like mantis. I got mine at reeferrock.com. You can request size and shapes too. These are supposed to be fossiled coral but still abit heavy. I still like Fiji the best. |

Thanks. The claims on reefer madness sound interesting. Anybody have experience?

What you do is wait until someone in your area is gettign rid of some rock and buy it. I bought 50 lbs of really great live rock for $100. I could have bought more bu tit would not fit.
