Will pods survive the trek from my sump to my display tank?

just recently started seeing pods in my tank and i have previously had a filter on my mag5 that i use to return my water from the sump to my display tank and i am considering removing it so the pods in my sump will populate the display tank. will they survive the journey through the mag5 or will they be shredded to bits?

I have heard 90 percent of them will make it fine...but I have a foam filter thing on the intake of my mag 9.5 return pump, should I remove this or keep it on? Will the pods and such make it through that?

Take that filter off. It really only builds up gunk and raises nitrates. I was told many many pods will survive the trek through even a fast moving impeller. It's not like it's a knife it just moves water really fast. And the pods are small enough to not get chopped up.

i'm also worried that the foam filter will just be a trap for nitrates that will later come back to bite me

yeah i am also worried that the foam filter will end up to be a storage space for nitrates that will one day come back to bite me.

Yep, dump it. Skimmer, lots of live rock, refuge, macro, and adequate flow. All the critters and skimmer will get all of that gunk out. You don't need pads of any kind. I used to think I did.

I have two of the foam filters, I rinse them off in fresh water every couple weeks and rotate them, my nitrates are 0 or almost 0, hardly detectable with salifert test kit. still remove it?

I still say remove it. But if they are serving some function you really like in your tank, it's your call. It's just my opinion since the only place I can keep a sponge is between the fuge and the pump, and that would just block pods from getting back up into my tank.

Mabe the very tiny flea like pods. But thinks like the crawly copepods or amphipods. No probably not. But I doubt anything but the tiniest things would fit through "foam" pads. Just think about it. Anything that possibly could get through there, is so small that you couldn't even see it in your main tank.
