damn suction cups!
Anyone know of how to get suction cups working again? Have cleaned them but on one powerhead they are refusing to stay still. Any tips guys? (don't want to glue them to the glass!)

Why don't you try gluing the suction cup mount to a magnetic glass cleaner?

Vinegar, a toothbrush and a razor blade. Use the vinegar to soak any deposits off the suction cups, the toothbrush to scrub them clean, and the razor blade to remove any and all algae from the glass. Apply the squeaky clean suction cups to the freshly scraped glass, and (usually) they'll work like new.

They sell magnetic mounts fairly cheap now. Marine Depot has them on sale.

I hate the suction cups too. I had a PH fall off the glass a few nights ago and chew up my RBTA ! I need to go and buy some magnetic glass cleaners to mount the ph's to.

I had trouble with the magnet affecting the impeller on Maxi-Jets when I tried that method.

my LFS sells new suction cups in all sorts of sizes and styles for about 25 cents each. After awhile it doesn't matter if you clean them they are just shot.

I only trust suction cups for my veggie clip. Any other use is asking for trouble IMHO. I have had them fail too many times to trust them anymore.

Once the suction cups lose their grip, toss them in the garbage and by new or try the new magnet mounts. I ended up making my own magnet mounts for my seio powerheads

I agree with the magnets, they never give up like the suction cups. I used the hagen magnetic glass cleaner and some underwater epoxy, both were very cheap...like $10. You can move the pump without ever getting wet!... take a look...

I hear to take them off the powerhead and boil them for a few seconds. I tried it and it seemed to work well.
