You should probably just google this site for threads. There are are probably a hundred good threads about it.
This is one of the topics that people are really tired of commenting about.

there's a google powered search engine you can get to from the homepage.

I don't find them that very useful, but there's not really any harm in having one, other than that it will kill bad, but also good things that pass through it.

Some people like to have them to kill off fish parasites,but, remember that the parasite has to actually pass through it to be killed, so it's not the most likely solution.
