uninterupted power supply help

I can get a great discount(bascially at cost) at a marine store for deep cycle batteries, battery chargers and power inverters

I was going to use it for a return pump which would still be under 100watts

Can i just do this ? wall outlet to batter charger to batteries to inverter and have the pump plugged into the inverter??

or will it cause a problem when there isnt a power outage...cause basically the charger will be directed connected to the inverter (ie both will be connected to the battery terminals)

or did i just need to get a device like the one listed in the May's issue of Reefkeeping...by the way..is that model APS612 or APS512??
