do you have an emergency overflow pipe plumbed? opinions needed

I drilled a tank with an internal overflow. i only have one piece of PVC draining the tank.

does anyone else have this setup? or am i crazy for not having 2 drains just in case something happens?

i was thinking of drilling another hole and having a piece of PVC just over the water line in case something happens

I have one as it is a pretty cheap safe guard for your tank. You can also put a valve on your main drain to tune it in so that it is silent and not worry about a clog. If it clogs, you have a back-up drain.

what do you mean a valve? like just a gate valve where i can adjust the flow? that is a good idea, i have one in my return but not in my drain
