I tested my alkalinity today among other things and it came back at 4. The to get the dkh I believe that I am suppose to multiply that number by 2.8, which gave me a dkh of 11. What should the alk/ or dkh be for a reef tank. If I am too high, what are some probable causes.

11 is not out of order, though it is on the high side of acceptable. Alot of calcium utilizing creatures (clams, sps, ect...) seem to appreciate a higher alk.

11 dkh is a good number. it is on the high end ofacceptable range. It will come down pretty quick if you dont add any buffer. Just shoot for 7 to 11 dkh.
