Question how much to pay lfs guy to watch fish?

how much should I offer to pay my lfs guy (a college student) to watch my tanks for 6 days while im on vacation? I am also a college student and I was just wondering what a fair price would be to offer a quaified person to watch/feed my tank while im away.

Who says he is qualified?

I usually have a family member or friend take care of it with very detailed instructions. Unless you trust this guy I wouldn't take the chance. Just my humble opinion.

I couldn't pay for something like that so I guess I didn't really answer your question.

I agree. Unless you trust this person very well, then I would not do it. Find a trusted friend or relative first. If they cannot do it, then go with your intended plan.

I live too far from home to have family do it and I am going on vacation with most of my friends I trust to do it except one. He is afraid to put his hands in the tank which is essential because my jawfish, corals and scallop need to be spot fed, also my turbos are in the habbit of landing on their backs. He is the guy I talk to most of the time I go to the store. He is a friend of a coworker and I am going to ask her if he is trustworthy.

I believe $15-25 per visit is fair depending on the distance h emust travel. Try to negotiate a set weekly price of $80-$115 though. Having the fish hand fed will take extra time so the latter price is more appealing to those that do it. Also, a big risk is having him have access to the house unattended. Definitely look into his trustworthiness. I am bonded from when I used to do pools, so this is not an issue for my customers.
