do polyps poop? lol

do they? cuz i was just watchin my new button polyps and all of a sudden from the back of the colony (i didnt see which polyp did it) this whitish/grey goo-e stuff shot up lol...i'm hopin they just poop and it wasnt something bad? i checked the params and they were all fine, and the lights are fine, and so is flow right by them.

any thoughts?

Yes, they can defecate. But this doesn't seem to happen often. Sometimes they will get aggitated and produce a mucous coating that eventually sloughs off into the water current. There is also a rare chance that you had males that were reproducing via broadcast spawning. If it was a quick spurt of a white cloud, I would suspect that it released sperm into the water. If not, I would look more toward the mucous coating coming off.

wow lol. i didnt knw they could reproduce like that..i figured it would just be like other polyps where they just spread.
and ya it was more of a spurt.
any signs i should look for now? will the new polyps be right next to these ones, or could they end up on the other side?

That had that on the discovery channel last night how they reproduce.

dang really? so do you thin they're tryin to reproduce then? if so, would i find new polyps only on that rock, or all the way across the tank maybe?
