Unhappy Dead Perc - Help

Hi,

Got home from work today to find one of my percs lying on the top of the tank cover, all dried up, gutted . How he go there is a mistery, the cover is about 4 inches from the water and there's only an inch gap at either side. It looks like the smaller one of the two clowns, can I put another small one in there or will there be trouble? They have been together since they were small, about 7 months.

Yes you can put a smaller one in there and they should get along fine. Your larger one is most likely female already, so you definetely want to get a small one to pair them up.

If you get a small one that has not been kept alone for an extended period you should have a chance. Try to get as small of one as you can however.

Whats the chances of introducing more than one, either two or three small ones bringing to total to a poss 3/4 clowns, 1 large and 2/3 small?

Multiple small clowns might be your best bet, they should form a hierarchy (with 1 male and 2/3 females). But I have only read and heard of this and never tried it. If you do go this route have a backup plan.
