coral beauty question
what is the typical behavior for this fish. mine seems to be hanging out in the rock caves. he will come out for a brief swim around the reef (i think he does this to show me he is alive lol) then he goes back in. i really love the color on this fish and wish i could view him more. i got him on saturday.

The first two weeks mine was very timid, hiding in the rocks. Now my Coral Beauty swims all around the tank nipping at the glass and rocks. Great fish just give him some more time.

mine still spends more time behind the rocks than in front. i guess theres more food for him to nip at there. but he still swims around the tank alot. like said just give him some time.

We are always so impatient when it comes to new fish. I tend to be the same way. Afterall, that is why we buy them. He is just getting used to his new home and will come out more as he adjusts to everything, unless there is another tankmate that is terriozing him. What other fish do you have in the aquarium with him? If he has other tankmates that are not bothering him, don't worry; he will come out.

ive got a folwr setup and was planning on a flame angel as well...
...from my research it seems that they should be fed 70% nori and 30% meaty foods. I was gonna feed nori three times a week and a cube of mysis or whatever twice a week. happy reefin'

is your fish eating well? if he is eating well then i wouldn't worry too much about his behavior otherwise. your first sign of stress/illness will be reduced intrest in eating. before you buy a fish, you should get your LFS to feed him so you can see if he is eating or not. generally speaking, don't buy a fish that refuses to eat.
even if he is not eating too well, give him a week or two for adjustment. |
