Astrea Turbos MIA?

Hey gang

Here's a good one for you.. Normally I can keep a good check on my snails by looking for their .. "parascope" that they will keep just sticking above the sand..

They also erupt like beautiful ravaging beasts from the depths of the sand below when I feed a little frozen mixed food for the rest of my crew and what not in the tank. ..

But in the last few days they seem to be MIA.

Are there periods of time where the snails will stay under because theres just that much delicious sand to cruise in.. or should I go looking for them?

I am hestiant to go disturbing their substrate because I dont want to kick up any nasty stuff and have it flow through the tank- the snails are there to keep that under control..

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Also, as a joke, I really wanted to post a "help me id this thread" with this :

I am an airhead and didn't have enough coffee this morning.
My Nassarius ones are the ones missing.

And that is why I am in the new to the hobby forum point and laugh, but still would like to know what to expect about these little guys

But thats my point.. i haven't seen them lately when ive been feeding and I don't see their little .. antenna or probe or whatever they stick up out of the sand when they are idle sometimes...

Is it safe to go digging for them or should I wait longer (haven't seen in a couple days ... tank is 2 months old or so) or .. what? =\
