any canister will work but make sure you put the intake somewhere where there wont be much impurities in the water, a great way to do it would be to have the intake be right next to your skimmers out take so that you can maybe reduce the micro bubbles some (as long as the bubbles dont accumulate in the canister and stop its operation).
You just dont want it producing nitratesby having alot of gunk stuck in there a cheaper way to do it would be an HOB filter though if you have a space to put it in your sump somewhere and it would be alot easier to replace the carbon

cool.
i was looking a an 05 series fluval, but since those are marketed for multiple types of filtration (chemical, mechanical, bio, etc) i didnt know if there was a better type of filter for running just carbon might have to look into the 2 little fishies unit. how does it install outy? do i keep a pump in my sump to run water thru the unit and into the T of my return? which chamber of your sump do you draw the water from? thanks. |

i put a T in my return line and thats it very easy, its HOB chamber and it doesnt hurt to run an inch or two of rowaphos on the bottom of your carbon. theres no microbubbles and its not a nitrate factory if you clean it out and rechange carbon monthly
to get the 27$ price go to marine depot and do a search for phosban and youll see the 2 little fishies at a cheaper price if you go straight for the reactor the normal way a 30 something price comes up lol |

i guess they changed it, b/c if i search for phosban, the TLF reactor shows up as the first result but its still 34.99 :/
oh well i still think i'm gonna try it out. better than a $100+ canister filter which i wouldn't fully utilize. i'll probably have the intake pump in my skimmer section and the output into my return section. (don't want to suck up any pods from my fuge) |
