Wierd looking skimate

I have th Octopus NW-150 that has been setup for about a week and this is all it has skimmed so far.My question is the skimate is a bright green looking color and ive never seen that before with any other skimmer ive had.The enclosed pics do not capture how bright it is but gives you an idea.

Do you dose any supplements? Kent Marine Coral Vite will make skimmate green.

Dont worry about the skimmate amout at this point. Mine didnt skim anything for 4 or 5 days, then for the next week everything it skimmed smelled like plastic. Now its just ripping stuff out of the water.

I recently set up a new skimmer and the collection cup collected a blue/teal colored skimmate. I had no clue where this color was coming from, so I added a phosban reactor with Black Diamond to the system and rinsed out the skimmer a few times with distilled water. Eventually, all of the color was gone. I work in a lab and assume that at some point while I was setting up the skimmer, I must have touched some dye.

I called the company and they said that the skimmer will concentrate any little amount of anything (in my case, possibly the dye that the skimmer must have touched) into the foam. I still do not know where the green color in your setup is coming from, but try to think if you accidentally touched any sort of dye - even a little drop will create the intense color that you are seeing. In the mean time, try using some type of activated carbon to attempt to remove the color causing agent. Good luck!

looks like the remains of green fish food. Are you feeding any green foods to your fish or inverts? That's my guess.

Remember skimmers take out protiens, mainly from foods you feed, so If you added new green food that would explain it,

what goes in eventually comes out

Elsewise I have no clue.. it is pretty green.. Save it for next years St Patty's day.. can spike some beer with that stuff.. Green tea is good for you, green beer must be even BETTER! ahahha

It may also come after cleaning the glass panes from some green algae that might not be so apparent.
